It's known that the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature is organizing the National Women’s Parliament with the theme of ‘Empowering Women – Strengthening Democracy’, in Amaravati. Yesteryear actress Roja, who is an MLA, was reportedly prevented by the police from taking part in the event.
The outspoken legislator was detained in a room as soon as she reached the Gannavaram airport, early news reports have said. The police only offered security reasons in the wake of dignitaries from several walks of life attending the Parliament.
Reportedly, the detaining lasted longer than expected. Control over her movements continued in Vijayawada as well. The members of her party, the YSRCP, have sought an explanation from the government, which they allege has done the detaining deliberately under the pretext of implementing security measures.
