Ranjith-starrer 'Juvva' will hit the screens on Feb 23. Also starring Palak Lalwani, the film has been directed by Trikoti Peta. In this interview, Ranjith talks about how the film happened, and more.
What is your background?
I hail from Vizag. I have always been passionate about movies since childhood. That's why I am in the industry. I did my MBA in Hyderabad. I started searching for opportunities right from that time. Although I was offered bit roles, I didn't do them as I wanted to play the male lead.
Tell us about 'Juvva'.
This is my second film after 'Nuvvu Nenu Okatavudam'. We have started producing movies on our home banner. My brother is a doctor. He became a producer for this film's sake. This is when Trikoti garu happened to come to us with this story. The scripting work went on for three months. We went to the sets only after everything was in place. We shot in Hyderabad, Vizag, Bengaluru, and Malaysia in 85 days.
Tell us about your role.
I have played a youngster by name Rana. When he meets the heroine, what he does is what is the crux. Although the budget overshot, it's justified, given the story's strength. The output is disproportionately better than what we spent.
What are the film's highlights?
This is a love story. Just as 'Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya' was a distinct film made by Trikoti garu, this one too is novel. The film is a dramatic love story. It has got all the required elements. 'Juvva' comes with a lot of twists. Keeravani garu's songs and background music are a major plus. The songs have already got a rave response. Malayalam actor Arjun is the main villain.
What is your next film going to be?
I will be doing a film from an outside banner. If everything goes well, the shoot will begin from May.
