Ever since Dhanush made the announcement that he will be producing Superstar Rajinikanth's next after '2.0' and the film will be directed by Pa.Ranjith, social media is abuzz with speculations that this might be the sequel to 'Kabali' the Rajini-Ranjith duo's recent blockbuster.

However a sequel to 'Kabali' seems to be most unlikely. Ranjith has denied to confirm whether his second consecutive film with the ultimate Superstar will be a sequel to 'Kabali' or a new script saying as of now he can not speak anything about the script he is currently penning for Rajini. He has also reportedly narrated the online to the Superstar.

But he has mentioned in a interview before the release of 'Kabali', that he may not do a sequel. Also it makes one think that, if it is a sequel, Dhanush's first announcement through a video teaser would have mentioned that as the makers have no reason to hide the news of making a sequel to the recent blockbuster which is still running successfully in theaters. The first announcement not mentioning anything about the content of the film itself makes us guess that this may not be a sequel.

Soon we can expect the confirmation about the script of the new film that will mark the first time teaming up of the 'Padayappa' star with his son-in-law Dhanush. As of now a sequel to 'Kabali' looks unlikely and Ranjith seems to be writing an altogether new script for Rajinikanth.
