SS Rajamouli has made it to the cover story of LA Times. The publication, based in the US, feels that the Telugu filmmaker has got “heady possibilities” in world cinema.
Describing ‘Roudram Ranam Rudhiram’ a Tollywood epic, the cover story says that the ‘Eega’ actor grew up on American action movies. The story also quotes ‘Baahubali’ producer Shobu Yarlagadda as saying that Rajamouli used to experiment even with limited resources when he was directing a TV serial in the 1990s.
It says that the biggest US screening to date of ‘RRR’ had sold out in minutes online as if it were Hyderabad and not Hollywood. The big para comes when the story opines that the ‘Magadheera’ maker is sometimes compared to Steven Spielberg or James Cameron, who are “fellow practitioners of large-scale, emotionally driven action, though he has his own unique signature and interests.”
The story makes mention of Jr NTR and Ram Charan, the international reception for ‘RRR’, and the screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasad’s contributions to the script.
