Raja Singh injured severely by lathi-charge

Goshamahal MLA and firebrand BJP leader Raja Singh has reportedly suffered severe head injuries because of police action on him and his supporters on Wednesday night.  Singh was at Jumerat Bazar to replace an old statue of freedom fighter Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi with a new one.  Rani participated in the 1857 revolt against the British and her statue has been replaced more than twice in the last many years.

As claimed by Singh, the beatings by the police led him to bleed.  He underwent treatment at a hospital.  Stitches had to be performed on his head as primary treatment.

It’s not clear what made the police resort to lathi-charging over the statue replacement.
