A recent development involving PUBG has left fans of the online battle royale excited as the developer of the game, PUBG Corporation, has posted jobs on LinkedIn for the Indian market, hinting at the possible return of the popular game.
PUBG Corporation listed a job posting on LinkedIn on behalf of Krafton to hire an associate-level manager in India on October 20. In the description of the job posting, Krafton wrote that it "offers a diversified portfolio of games on PC, Console and mobile devices including the blockbuster battle royal video game, PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) and MMORPG, TERA. The games have received worldwide acclaim, selling tens of millions of copies and winning multiple game awards worldwide. Headquartered in Korea, Krafton has operational offices globally across North America, Europe, Japan, China, and Southeast Asia." However, it is not clear whether the job posting is for the mobile version of PUBG, as the battle royale is still accessible for download in other platforms, including PC and game consoles. A statement regarding the specifics of the job posting is expected to be made by the company soon.
Following a clash in mid-June between the military troops in India and China over disputed territory which resulted in the death of 20 Indian soldiers, 59 Chinese based mobile apps, including the popular video sharing app TikTok, were banned in the country over data security concerns. Later, the government took up another list of such applications and examined them for violations to security and user privacy. Following this, a hundred other applications, including PUBG Mobile, were banned in the country.
