Teenager kills himself over PUBG

An 18-year-old boy from Nehru Nagar, Mumbai committed suicide by hanging himself after his parents denied buying him an expensive phone to play PUBG in.
The teenager allegedly demanded a phone that cost Rs. 37,000 in order to play the online game. However, his parents could apparently only afford a phone worth Rs. 20,000. Disheartened by this, the 18-year-old hung himself off the ceiling fan of his residence's kitchen. The police have registered a case of accidental death while the investigation on the matter is underway.
PUBG is an online battle royale game that gained traction soon after its PC and Xbox One launch and became a sensation when the game was released on iOS and Android devices. It is a highly addictive games that is popular among young adults across the globe right now. However, the adverse effects of the game recently led a 11-year-old Mumbai resident to file a Public Litigation Interest (PIL) in the Bombay High Court seeking a ban on the game.
