Simbu is the reason for FEFSI-Producer Council split – R.K. Selvamani statement

The Tamil Film Producers Council announced that it has completely severed ties with the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) after decades of working together.  Film producers have been advised to employ anyone they want to work with for their films with regards to the 24 crafts that form the federation such as lightmen, makeup men, crane operators, camera operators etc.

FEFSI head R.K. Selvamani has shot out a statement in which he has maintained that he in his individual capacity or the federation did not violate any clause of the agreement with the council.  He has explained that the council had sent a circular that cooperation should not be given to Simbu’s new movies as there are pending disputes with four producers including Michael Rayappan of ‘AAA’ fame.

Simbu’s new movie ‘Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu’ directed by Gautham Menon has started shooting which is said to have caused the dispute and the split between the two organizations.  Selvamani has further clarified that producer Ishari Velan had sought permission to the producer council to shoot just four days of the film outside Chennai.  He had assured that the disputes of Simbu would then be sorted out and only after that the next big schedule in Chennai would begin.

According to Selvamani the FEFSI had cooperated for the Simbu film only in concurrence with the permission given by the producer council.  He has added that some unseen forces are at work to cause this serious issue and has called for a dialogue to end the deadlock.
