Rebel Star Prabhas‘ latest pan-India release The Raja Saab (directed by Maruthi), which hit theaters on January 9, 2026, is now gearing up for its digital premiere. Industry sources confirm that JioHotstar has acquired the OTT streaming rights for the film at approximately ₹80 crore (though some earlier reports mentioned higher figures like ₹160 crore across languages). The movie is expected to stream on the platform during the second week of February 2026 (around February 13–20), with most trade estimates pointing to a late February or early March window (6–8 weeks post-theatrical release).
The Raja Saab was released simultaneously in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada as a grand fantasy-horror-comedy. It featured Prabhas in a fun, comedic dual role, supported by Sanjay Dutt in a pivotal part, along with Malavika Mohanan (Telugu debut), Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Zarina Wahab, and Boman Irani. Music was composed by Thaman S, and the film was produced by D. Gowri Shankar under People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment.
Box Office Performance
Despite a massive budget (reportedly ₹300–450 crore including Prabhas’ remuneration), the film received mixed-to-negative reviews for its screenplay, pacing, logic gaps, and inconsistent genre blending. Critics called it a “royal mess” and “forgettable,” though some praised Prabhas’ comic timing and the climax.
- Opening: Strong start with over ₹100–112 crore worldwide on Day 1 (biggest for a horror-fantasy film).
- Lifetime Collection: Worldwide gross around ₹200–203 crore (India net ≈ ₹142 crore), crossing the ₹200 crore mark and making it Prabhas’ seventh film to do so—but far short of the ₹400+ crore needed for breakeven.
- Result: Classified as a box office disappointment/underperformer, with sharp drops after the opening weekend due to negative word-of-mouth.
OTT Buzz & Sequel Tease
The theatrical version’s end credits hinted at a sequel titled Circus 1935, with Prabhas potentially in a double role as protagonist and antagonist. Fans are now eager to revisit the film (or catch it for the first time) on OTT, especially for the horror sequences and Prabhas’ lighter, entertaining side.
JioHotstar will likely offer it in all original and dubbed languages. An official streaming date announcement from the makers or platform is awaited soon—typically 1–2 weeks before launch.
Though it didn’t fully meet theatrical expectations, The Raja Saab remains a treat for Prabhas fans. Stay tuned for the exact OTT premiere date!
