Did a ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ actor get more salary than Vikram, Karthi and Aishwarya Rai?

In exactly a month’s time on September 30th, the first part of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is releasing worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam languages.  There is huge hype not only for the epic story based on Kalki’s novel of the same name but also Mani-Ravi Varman’s visuals, A.R. Rahman’s music and of course the ensemble cast of more than a dozen top stars.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R Parthiban.   The supporting cast also features such names as Nizhalgal Ravi, Nasser, Ashwin Kakkamanu, Riyaz Khan, Balaji Shaktivel, Kumaravel,  Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Master Raghavan. Arjun Chidambaram 
Babu Antony, Makarand Deshpande ,  Aadesh Bala, Vijay Yesudas and Amzath Khan.

Meanwhile a rumour started floating that Jayam Ravi who is playing the title role of Arulmozhi Varman aka ‘Ponninyin Selvan’ received the highest salary in the film.  The news surprised many as Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Karthi are charging huge money per film.  Also Kalki’s epic gave more prominence to Vandhiyadevan played by Karthi and hence he will also have more screen time.

The ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ team as clarified that the news about the salaries of the cast of the film is baseless and false.  On the other hand the main star cast of the film are gearing up for a hectic promotional tour for the film in the main cities of India and several foreign countries too.
