Pakistani Flight Attendant Vanishes After Landing in Canada: Another PIA Crew Member Disappearance

A cabin crew member of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) went missing in Canada after landing there on Tuesday, according to Pakistani news agency Dawn. Raza had joined PIA 15 years ago and was working on flight PK-782 that took off from Islamabad to Toronto on Monday. But she failed to report on the return flight from Toronto to Karachi (PK-784). Her room was empty at the hotel where she stayed, leaving her uniform in it with a note apparently from her reading "Thank You, PIA."
One common fact is evident from these incidents: nothing is isolated. Last month, another PIA crew member, Fazia Mukhtar, went missing in a similar way. Mukhtar was about to return to Karachi a day after she landed in Canada, but she never boarded her flight and instead vanished. This trend of Pakistani flight attendants disappearing after landing in Canada started in 2019 and has stayed intact since then.
Last year, at least seven cabin crew members of the airline disappeared in Canada during their flight schedules. Two flight seniors, Khalid Mehmood and Feda Hussain, fled to Canada shortly after the landing of the Islamabad-Toronto flight.
A PIA spokesman said one of the cabin crews who had slipped away in previous years had now settled in Canada and "advises" other crew members considering asylum. PIA management has been coordinating with Canadian authorities to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
