A day after Telangana became Coronavirus-free, neighbouring Andhra Pradesh has registered its first case of COVID-19. An official announcement regarding this was made by health authorities on Thursday afternoon.

"One case of Italian returnee who came back to Nellore on March 6 has developed a dry cough and was admitted to Government General Hospital, Nellore, in an isolation ward, has tested positive for the virus at Tirupathi's SVIMS virology lab," the note says.

Right now, the patient is stable and all his vitals are normal. "He has recovered from symptoms and is keeping good health. He will be discharged after completion of 14 days after retesting him again. All the five contacts of the person have been identified and were brought under hospital quarantine as per protocol," the note adds.
