The past few hours saw high drama in Tollywood circles as the Telugu distributors of War 2 and Coolie approached the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh seeking a hike in cinema ticket prices. The move sparked an intense backlash from netizens, who took to social media to criticize the idea and urge authorities to protect regular audiences from inflated rates.
After rounds of discussions, it has been officially decided that there will be no ticket price hike in Telangana for either film — a decision that has brought relief and cheer to movie lovers in the state.
However, in Andhra Pradesh, sources indicate that a Government Order (GO) approving a ticket price hike is likely to be issued soon. If implemented, it could make AP ticket rates significantly higher for these high-profile releases.
With clarity now in place for Telangana, advance bookings are expected to open shortly across Nizam and Andhra regions. Industry watchers are keen to see how the massive hype surrounding War 2 and Coolie will translate into box office numbers when both films release worldwide on August 14, 2025.
