R. Parthiban is a very famous and veteran actor-director in the Tamil film industry. He is known for having directed critically acclaimed films such as Pudhiya Paadhai (1989) and Housefull (1999) which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil.

Even Parthiban's last movie 'Oththa Seruppu Size 7' was honoured with the National Film Award – Special Jury Award. Currently, he is busy with the single-shot feature film 'Iravin Nizhal' in A. R. Rahman's music and also helming the Oththa Seruppu Hindi remake with the Bollywood star Abishek Bachchan.

In a recent interview, Parthiban said, "I have a wish to narrate a story to Thalapathy Vijay and direct him. That will happen soon." Thalapathy Vijay, the top star of Tamil cinema, is currently starring in Beast directed by Nelson. Following the biggie, Vijay will be starring in 'Thalapathy 66' directed by Vamsi Paidipally and the official announcement was made recently.
