Narayana Murthy’s son-in-law becomes UK’s Finance Minister

It’s a proud moment for India, once again.  Indian-origin politician Rishi Sunak, often called as the son-in-law of Infosys Co-founder Narayana Murthy in the Indian media, has become United Kingdom’s new finance minister in Boris Johnson’s Cabinet.  He will be the second most important person in the Cabinet, next only to the Prime Minister.

Aged 39, Rishi is the MP for Richmond in Yorkshire.   A supporter of Brexit, he has been a Parliamentarian since 2015.

An Oxford University and Stanford graduate, Rishi has hands-on experience as an investor.  In the past, he founded an investment company with other partners. He has also studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics.  A strong believer in pro-business economics, he is expected to be sympathetic to Indian interests.
