‘Mahanati’ director Nag Ashwin is unhappy with the architectural design created for Tirupathi’s under-construction railway station. On Tuesday, the filmmaker shared his take via Twitter directly to Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The ‘Project K’ director opined that the design should ideally be in keeping with Tirumala’s temple town nature. It’s a spiritual place whose aesthetics must be respected, he suggested.
Nobody likes the design, Ashwin said, adding, “The design looks like some generic Western copy, some bad IT park. Tirupati is sacred and spiritual. Let’s get people who understand the rich architecture of India to design it. These glass and steel copies are not good.”
Agreeing with him, Twitter user Shravani Jadav wrote, “Looks like they failed to consider basic factors like history, culture, the structure of town and spirituality. Some designs should blend with the surroundings. Would have made more sense if it was conventional.”
On his part, Tirupathi MP Maddila Gurumoorthy is approving of the design. “On behalf of all the people of Tirupati, I am extending my humble gratitude to you Ashwini Vaishnaw ji for transforming our Tirupati railway station to the next level, fulfilling the long-held desire of the Tirupati people,” he tweeted.
