The makers of Mahakali, the next installment in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), have kick-started the film’s musical promotions with a grand devotional number. Titled ‘Aigiri Nandini’, the first song from the film was unveiled today, offering a spiritually rich musical experience with impressive visuals and powerful performances.
Presented by RK Duggal and produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under RKD Studios, Mahakali is directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru. The film features Bhoomi Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Sriya Reddy and Rohit Saraf in prominent roles.
Based on the iconic hymn dedicated to Goddess Mahakali, originally composed by Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya, the song stands out for its grand orchestration and devotional appeal. Music director Smaran Sai deserves special appreciation for his impressive recreation of the timeless composition. His elaborate arrangements gradually build the musical intensity while preserving the spiritual essence of the original hymn.
Singers Anila Rajeev, Geetha Madhuri and Sai Charan bring tremendous energy to the track. The combination of male and female vocals, along with the powerful backing chorus, adds depth and makes the composition even more impactful.
However, the biggest highlight of the song is Sriya Reddy’s majestic appearance as Goddess Mahakali. Presented in a magnificent multi-armed avatar against a traditional temple backdrop, the actress looks powerful and divine. What makes the visual presentation particularly special is the portrayal of Mahakali not just as the fierce destroyer of evil but also as a compassionate mother. One striking visual shows the goddess feeding a baby, beautifully highlighting the contrasting dimensions of divine feminine energy – immense strength and unconditional motherhood.
The visual storytelling perfectly complements the song’s musical grandeur, with Sriya Reddy’s commanding screen presence adding to its impact. The combination of powerful vocals, Smaran Sai’s orchestration and the stunning depiction of Goddess Mahakali delivers several goosebumps-inducing moments.
On the technical front, Mahakali features cinematography by Suresh Ragutu and production design by Sri Nagendra Tangala, with Smaran Sai composing the music.
With ‘Aigiri Nandini’, Mahakali has made a promising beginning to its musical journey. The film is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on January 8, 2027, coinciding with the Sankranthi festival.
