It was on this day in 1986 that Superstar Krishna's 'Simhaasanam' was released. What makes this movie a landmark Telugu entertainer is the fact that it's the first 70MM CinemaScope and six-track Stereo-Phonic sound movie to come out from the Telugu film industry.

There is other reasons why the great actor's fans have always seen it as a pride. The movie has a few other firsts:

1. It was the first Telugu film to have collected a share of Rs. 1.50 Cr in its very first week!

2. It was the first Telugu film to have released in as many as six 70MM brand prints. The prevalent technology in theatres had to be re-calibrated to play the movie.

Some of the interesting facts about the cult hit are:

1. It was written, edited and directed by Superstar Krishna himself.

2. Bappi Lahiri composed the music. The songs became a hit even in Hindi ('Singhasan').

When its 100-days function was held in Chennai, the fans came in so huge numbers that it proved Krishna's stardom like never before.
