Amid rising cases of Covid-19 across the country during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the Mumbai police decided to use colour-coded stickers for essential vehicles to control traffic during the Covid-19 curfew which was imposed in Maharashtra last week.

A lot of residents of the city had taken to social media to seek clarification from the Mumbai police regarding the stickers. One such resident, who went by the handle name 'Ashwin Vinod' tagged the Mumbai police and asked, "What sticker should I use in order to go out and meet my girlfriend? I miss her." A witty as well as kind response from the police read, "We understand it's essential for you sir but unfortunately it doesn't fall under our essentials or emergency categories! Distance makes the heart grow fonder & currently, you healthier. We wish you lifetime together. This is just a phase." Replying to the tweet, another user wrote, "Very thoughtful of you to reply with such kindness and understanding. Tough times sometimes need kindness in abundance."

The city police had informed earlier this week that colour coded stickers were mandatory for travellers during the curfew. "Red, green & yellow stickers are now mandatory for vehicles of essential service providers/seekers, for a hassle free commute," the police had informed.
