Multiplexes dont concede producers proposals, Christmas releases doubtful

Recently, a prominent film producers' body related to Tollywood said that it won't be selling movies to multiplexes unless the latter meet its key demands. Among the demands are these: Multiplexes should stop levying VPF charges, maintenance charges have been borne by the producer and this should stop, the revenue-sharing formula should be tweaked, so on and so forth.

So far, multiplexes in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana haven't accepted the proposals. It's understood that deliberations between the two parties haven't resulted in anything fruitful.

As a result, no Telugu movie releases have happened in multiplexes even though they have been reopened in Telangana since December 4. Producers are sticking to the guns. On the other hand, multiplexes are not conceding the allegedly maximalist proposals.

It's now not clear whether movies meant to be released in the Christmas week will come out at all. Unless the stalemate ends, there is no hope!
