On the eve of his birthday, former Indian captain MS Dhoni was spotted in London at the Wimbledon 2022 Quarterfinal match between Rafael Nadal and Taylor Fritz. A picture of the cricketer from the stadium was shared by Wimbledon’s official social media handle.
“An Indian icon watching on (Indian flag icon),” the post was captioned. Dhoni, in the picture, is seen posing for a selfie, looking dapper in a bluish grey blazer and sunglasses. Former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar was also part of the Wimbledon crowd watching the mixed doubles semi-final match of Sania Mirza. Nadal and Fritz played a compelling 5-set match that lasted nearly 4 hours and 20 minutes, with the former emerging victorious in the final tiebreak.
Meanwhile, Dhoni, who is celebrating his 41st birthday today, informed cricket viewers that he would be taking part in the 16th edition of Indian Premier League. “Definitely, I will play next year. It would be unfair not to say thank you to Chennai, to not play in Chennai. It won’t be nice to the CSK fans. Whether 2023 will be my last year or not, that is something we will have to see,” the former Indian skipper had said.
