In a heartfelt message, Michael Douglas conveyed, “Hello India, it’s Michael Douglas, and I am coming your way. I am deeply honored to be receiving Satyajit Ray’s Excellence in Film Lifetime Award at the International Indian Film Festival in Goa. Catherine and I are eagerly looking forward to joining the festivities and to also celebrate a dear friend as it marks his 25th year in the film industry. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, announced this special distinction, underscoring Douglas’s profound connection with India. Thakur shared his delight in a post, saying, “I’m delighted to announce that Michael Douglas, the distinguished Hollywood Actor and Producer, will be honored with the prestigious Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award at the 54th International Film Festival Goa. His deep love for our country is well known, and we look forward to welcoming him, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and their son to the most prominent Film Festival in South Asia, where we can showcase our rich cinematic culture and unique traditions at #IFFI54!! The award presentation is set to take place at the International Film Festival of India, scheduled to be held in Panjim from November 20-28 this year. Michael Douglas, at the age of 79, boasts a remarkable career that includes two Academy Awards, five Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and the AFI Life Achievement Award. His journey began with his first notable role in the television series “The Streets of San Francisco,” where he co-starred with Karl Malden. Over the years, he has graced the silver screen with memorable performances in a range of successful films, including “Falling Down,” “The American President,” “The Ghost and the Darkness,” “The Game,” “A Perfect Murder,” and many more.
