Playback singer Chinmayi Sripada continues to face criticisms for merely standing up for women in the #MeToo movement. Most recently, popular south Indian dubbing artist Kavitha lashed out at her for allegedly hijacking the movement.
"I have known Chinmayi as a dubbing artist. She has rubbed her personal problems onto the industry. When her name came out in the Suchi Leaks controversy, Chinmayi had dubbed Suchitra as a "mental". If Suchitra is mentally unstable, what is Chinmayi?" Kavitha asked recently.
Kavitha said that Chinmayi has no proofs against the ones she has been making accusations of sexual harassment. "Her mother always accompanies her. If she faced any harassment, why didn't she go to the police? She could have discussed it with her elders at home. Recently, a 13-year-old girl was raped. Sexual abuse is everywhere but since the film industry gets a lot of exposure, it's in the news most often," Kavitha observed.
She claimed that there are no so many pending cases in the dubbing union as Chinmayi recently stated.
