Looks like Tamil Nadu will now have to reverse its recent decision to allow 100% seating capacity in theatres and multiplexes. On Wednesday, the Union Home Ministry has asked the Tamil Nadu government to issue orders to bring their guidelines in line with the MHA order dated December 28, 2020. As per this order, cinemas shall not have seating beyond 50% capacity.
An order issued to the state government states that the Centre’s guidelines shall not be diluted under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The states are supposed to strictly enforce the rules by all means.
So, in all likelihood, the 100% seating rule will now have to be revoked.
Vijay’s ‘Master’ was expected to reap the benefit of full seating capacity. It will now not have that privilege.
