We all know that acclaimed director Mari Selvaraj started his magnum opus film, ‘Maamannan’, with the powerhouse actors: Vadivelu, Fahad Faasil, Udhayanidhi Stalin and Keerthy Suresh. The first look at their characters stormed the internet last night. Now, the fans are wondering if Mari Selvaraj is creating his own cinematic universe.
In the latest still of Maamannan, there is a big tattoo of veteran actor Lal on Vadivelu’s hands. Notably, Lal had earlier played the role of ‘Yemaraja’ in Mari Selvaraj’s previous film, ‘Karnan’, starring Dhanush. Lal’s character sacrifices his life in Karnan and becomes a legend for his people. The latest buzz is that Maamannan is happening in the same universe as Karnan. Vaigai Puyal will be seen as a politician in this movie.
But some reports suggest otherwise that Lal has acted in Maamannan as well and it is a different story altogether. Udhay’s first look suggests that it is one of the best roles played by him. Meanwhile, Fahad Faasil’s look in Maamannan is highly menacing and we can expect ruthless acting from the renowned actor. Keerthy Suresh was seen in both traditional and modern shades in the new stills.
Produced by Red Giant Movies, Maamannan is slated to hit the screens in June, most likely on Bakrid (June 29). AR Rahman is composing the musical score for the film and the makers recently recorded a song with Vadivelu. The technical team includes Theni Eswar as the cinematographer and Selva RK as the editor and Kumar Gangappan as the art director.
