Mani Sharma was the reigning Tollywood music director in the 1990s and 2000s. Devi Sri Prasad was not sought-after for big-ticket movies as long as Mani Sharma was going great guns.
In an upcoming TV talk show episode (read Alitho Saradaga), the ‘Melody Brahma’ is expected to reveal some unknown secrets. This is one of his career’s very few interviews.
In the show’s promo, we see Ali ask the guest about his decline with the rise of Thaman. It seems Mani is also going to reveal why Puri Jagannadh didn’t work with him on ‘Liger’ after a blockbuster album like ‘iSmart Shankar’.
Mani reveals that he stuck to his guns when Chiranjeevi allegedly insisted that only SPB sing ‘Raamma Chilakamma’ in ‘Choodalani Undhi’. Mani chose the Hindi singer Udit Narayan. The song was the biggest chartbuster of the year.
Mani also reveals that Pawan Kalyan had planned to make ‘Yeh Mera Jahaan’ in ‘Kushi’ big. “It was his idea that a Hindi song be infused in the film,” the composer says.
