The audio of Mani Ratnam's 'Cheliyaa' was released this morning in Hyderabad. The event was graced by the director, AR Rahman, Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, Vamsi Paidipally, Suhasini, Karthi, Aditi Rao Hydari and others.
The audio was released by Sastry and handed over to ARR.
Speaking at the event, Mani said, "The film 'Cheliyaa' has been shot in the backdrop of air force. You won't see the regular Karthi. Aditi is also very beautiful. The reason why 'Cheliyaa's songs have come out so well is because of AR Rahman and Seetharama Sastry. Special thanks to both of them. We are very happy that Dil Raju garu is releasing it on his banner. We hope everybody's support will be there for the movie".
Suhasini said, "I am the best critic of Mani Ratnam's movies. Even if I criticize, people warm up to his films. He has once again done a love story. I don't know why he has done a love story. Usually, he dominates his movie's characters. But in the case of 'Cheliyaa', Karthi and Aditi have dominated him. They have passed all his tests. I haven't seen a beautiful performer as her all these years. It's assuring that Dil Raju garu is producing the movie".
Rahman said, "Mani Ratnam garu is my brother and friend. It has been a journey of 25 years. I like Telugu songs a lot. May be it's because of the language's greatness. With 'Baahubali', the range of Telugu cinema has become international".
Karthi said, "I have learnt about acting in the same school as I learnt about cinema. That's why 'Cheliyaa' is special to me. I found the character very challenging. When I listened to the script, I told Mani sir that actors like my brother Suriya should portray it. I hadn't understood the character well until I took fighter pilot classes. It's only then did I understand how great fighter pilots are. It has been a different journey working for this movie. The kind of new feeling I got when I did my debut film in a village backdrop, I got the same doing 'Cheliyaa'. This is a story that takes place between two strong characters. The audience will remember it for long. I am happy to have acted in AR Rahman's musical. The film is coming on April 7".
Aditi said, "This is a special movie to me. It's a dream-come-true. I am happy to be here in Hyderabad, which is my native place. 'Cheliyaa' is my first Telugu movie. It's an unforgettable experience working with Mani Ratnam garu and AR Rahman garu. Karthi is my favourite co-star".
Note: 'Cheliya' is the Tamil version of 'Kaatru Veliyidai', directed by Mani Ratnam as a bilingual. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on April 7, 2017.
