Payal Rajput says that 'Mangalavaaram' is aware of the elevated appetite of the audience for dark thrillers with shocking elements. Director Ajay Bhupathi of 'RX 100' fame is firmly on his way to entertain the audience this November 17. The pan-Indian film (coming out in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada), has Payal in her career's most complex role.
"Thanks to OTT shows, the audience are clued into certain genres. 'Mangalavaaram' draws its strength from its story-telling prowess. It is not a star-driven film but a thriller fuelled by its varied characters. The audience are changing. They are coming out of their comfort zone. Realistic films are the flavour of the season. I myself watch Korean, and Chinese content although a soul-touching film like 'Mangalavaaram' is my kind of cinema," she says.
The film, produced by Swathi Reddy Gunupati and Suresh Varma on Mudhra Media Works, tells its story visually and through symbolism. "The butterflies and all mirror the depths of Shailu, my character," she adds. "Boldness means different things to different people. I think you can't say mine is a bold character. It is a profound character who possesses desires," she adds.
"I am so professional that I live between action and cut. I do it and I am done. I learned this while doing Hindi serials. That's my approach while doing intimate scenes as well," she says.
Music director Ajaneesh B Loknath of 'Kantara' fame has worked on this multi-lingual thriller.
