Jayaram opens up about working under Mani Ratnam in the magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’!

Malayalam actor Jayaram, who is playing the pivotal role of ‘Azhwarkadiyan Nambi’ in Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan” has opened up to exclusive details about the film in a recent interview with Indiaglitz. Here’s what he said: 

“Every actor in India would want to act under Mani Ratnam’s direction in at least one scene. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to act in a film by Mani Ratnam. It is a very big accomplishment that I got the opportunity to play a great character like Azhwarkadiyan in a magnum opus movie like ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. 

And I have never seen any other film than this Mani Ratnam film in terms of discipline. Every day, the shooting of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will start at exactly 6 am and everyone will get up at 03.30 am to get ready for the first shot. Mani Ratnam will start the first shot at 6 am punctually even with 100s of junior artists. 

Actor Jayaram has said that there may be many larger than life, magnum opus films coming out in Indian cinema but ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will come with Mani Ratnam’s signature on the top and Mani Ratnam direction is a cherry on top of the all the grandness.”
