‘Lucky Bhaskar’ team steps in for Wayanad victims

In the wake of the devastating landslides that have struck Wayanad in Kerala this week, Sithara Entertainments has stepped up to support relief efforts. The production house, known for its successful films like “Pushpa” and “Sita Ramam,” has donated Rs 5 lakh to the Kerala Government Disaster Relief Fund.

The donation was made under the banner of “Team Lucky Baskhar,” the upcoming film starring Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan. The production house expressed solidarity with the people of Kerala, stating, “Our hearts go out to all those affected by the tragic landslides in Wayanad. In the early hours of July 30, 2024, a series of catastrophic landslides struck the Wayanad district of Kerala, India. Triggered by torrential rainfall, hillsides crumbled, unleashing a torrent of mud, water, and boulders that swept through the villages of Mundakkai, Chooralmala, and Meppadi.

The tragedy has claimed at least 334 lives, injured over 200 individuals, and left 281 missing, making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in Kerala’s history. This devastating event highlights the increasing vulnerability of the region to extreme weather events.

The landslides are part of a broader trend of extreme weather incidents impacting India in recent years. The tragic loss of life and widespread devastation underscore the urgent need for robust disaster preparedness measures and effective mitigation strategies to protect vulnerable communities from the growing risks posed by climate change.

“Lucky Baskhar,” set for a grand theatrical release on September 7th, is expected to have a significant presence in Kerala, where Dulquer Salmaan enjoys immense popularity.

Meanwhile, producer S Naga Vamsi has also announced the release date of Vijay Deverakonda’s 12th film, a joint production between Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 28th, 2025.
