Rahul Gandhi has opined that the Narendra Modi government, which set out to "end the Coronavirus with a 21-day lockdown", has failed to do so. Saying that there have been three lockdowns since the end of the first edition and yet Covid-19 cases are rising exponentially, the Congress leader today sounded critical of the government's decision to slowly lift the lockdown.
"Ours is the only country where the virus is exponentially rising and yet the government is removing the lockdown," he commented.
"I am not an expert to say how the opening up of the economy should happen. You have to take inputs from state governments, from experts. You have to do it in a systematic way, not in an ad-hoc way," Rahul added.
The former Congress President claimed that the States where his party is in power has been ramping up testing, besides taking care of migrants. "The current crisis has multiplied the rate of unemployment in the country," he rued.
