Lakshmi Manchu has held Hyderabad’s first-ever premiere of ‘Last Film Show’ (‘Chhello Show’ in Gujarati), which was recently sent as India’s official Oscar entry. The small film, which has been wrongly described as a ‘freemake’ of a Canadian film, will be competing at the 95th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film Category.
The director of the movie Nalin Kumar was in Hyderabad to attend the premiere. Taking to Twitter, Lakshmi Manchu wrote, “Honoured! to host the exclusive preview screening of India’s official Oscar movie #lastfilmshow. It was a great interaction with Pan Nalin and Dheer Momaya and the whole team of the film.”
In an interview with a national daily, director Nalin Kumar Pandya said that the film was creating havoc abroad, but not many knew about the film in India. The film is a homage to the Canadian film and not a remake or adaptation or inspiration. Seventy percent of the film has been drawn from the director’s childhood.
