Yash, the Sandalwood superstar and ‘KGF’ actor, has announced a donation of Rs 1.5 Cr to 3000 needy workers of the Kannada film industry. The actor has earmarked Rs 5,000 for each of the workers.
Making the announcement, he said, “While I am very well aware that this may not serve as a solution to the loss and the pains caused by the situation we are in, it is a ray of hope.” He described Covid-19 as an invisible enemy that has dismantled several livelihoods.
Yash, who is quite popular in Karnataka, is not the first actor to help the needy. Superstars such as Upendra and Shivarajkumar too have done their bit. Darshan, Puneeth Rajkumar, and Kiccha Sudeepa, too, have made donations.
Besides the male stars, the likes of Pranitha Subhash (who got married to a businessman recently) are doing philanthropic work.
As for Yash, he is doing ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ with Prashanth Neel. The film’s release date is likely to be changed. Starring also Sanjay Dutt, Rao Ramesh, Prakash Raj and a host of other actors, it is a pan-India release.
