A couple from Kerala came up with a unique concept for their post-wedding photoshoot, which was criticized by a number of social media users. The unconventional pictures of Hrushi Karthikeyan and Lakshmi, draped in white bedsheets and running through tea fields, surfaced online.
Calling it a "nude" photoshoot, several social media users verbally abused the couple and apparently even insulted their family members. Opening up about the same in an interview with TNM, Lakshmi reportedly said, "I am somebody who wears off shoulder clothes and shorts. Showing my neck or legs does not qualify as nudity. But I was hit with a storm of horrible comments when the pictures were posted on Facebook. Initially we responded to some of the comments, but then the pictures went viral and it was overwhelming to have to respond to trolls. So we decided to ignore it." Lakshmi added that apart from the social media trolls, she got calls from her relatives as well, who questioned her choices with the photoshoot. "They kept talking about privacy and why we would shoot 'something' (the intimacy) that should be done within four walls. On the internet, they slut shamed me and insulted my family and posed questions such as "are you wearing clothes underneath?," she said.
However, the couple refused to take down the photos as they felt there was nothing immoral or wrong with the pictures. They also decided not to take any legal action against the users who posted abusive comments. "This will fizzle out in a day or two and I don’t want to waste my energy on responding to these trolls. So, I will not file a police complaint," Hrushi reportedly said.
