Princess Kate Set to Miss Olympics Amid Ongoing Cancer Treatment

As the Olympics enter their second week, Princess Kate is scheduled to miss them. Early this year, the Princess of Wales received a cancer diagnosis; she has been taking prophylactic chemotherapy. She only made two public appearances this year: first on June 15 at Trooping the Colour with her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis; second on July 14 at Wimbledon's men's singles final, accompanied by Charlotte and her sister Pippa Matthews.
Kate, who went to the London 2012 Olympics with Prince William and is rather passionate about sports, will probably not be present at this year's Paris games. Before making her next major public appearance, she is waiting on more medical advice from her doctors.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier said Kate most likely won't be visiting Paris this week. "I'm sure Kate would love to attend the events in Paris with William," Dampier said, "but her participation will depend on her doctors' recommendations." Given her stage of rehabilitation, overseas travel seems too taxing at this point.
