Kamal says no to caste, Shruti says yes to caste

"I refused to fill in the caste and religion column in both my daughters’ school admission certificate. That’s the only way, it will pass on to the next generation. Every individual should start contributing fr progress. Kerala started implementing the same. Those who do should be celebrated."  These are Kamal Haasan's words when he was recently asked about his solution for caste.

Shruti Haasan's school admission certificate may not have had her caste mentioned in the relevant column, but the actress herself is "caste-conscious", say the critics of the father-daughter duo.

They have put out a 2014 video interview of the 'Katamarayudu' actress.  And in the now-controversial interview, Shruti is seen referring to herself as an Iyengar (Brahmin) and the interviewer too as an Iyengar (Brahmin).  What kind of hypocrisy is this, critics are asking.

This is not all.  In a 2013 interview, Shruti had said this much: "My dad is an Iyengar and my mom (Sarika) a half-Maharashtrian and half-Rajput. The Iyers have the better-looking boys and the Iyengars the prettier girls."

Kamal's critics are also asking why he chose 'Sabaash Naidu' (Naidu being a caste name) as the title of his upcoming movie.
