Bigg Boss Tamil is arguably one of the most popular TV reality programs in the south, owing to the show's controversial content as well as its host, veteran actor Kamal Haasan.

While rumours had recently been doing the rounds that actor Simbu might also possibly host the upcoming season, it has now been confirmed by sources that Kamal Haasan will be hosting the 5th season of the reality show as well. Although it was earlier reported that Kamal Haasan might leave the show to focus on his upcoming movies and his political journey, the actor has apparently signed a contract with the makers to host Bigg Boss for five seasons. The actor-turned-politician has also said to the producers to wait for a few months before launching the season hoping that the Covid cases would subside by then.

Kamal Haasan is currently working on his upcoming film, Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The action thriller movie, which also reportedly features Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi in significant roles, is produced by Kamal Haasan under the Raaj Kamal Films International banner.
