Legendary director Mani Ratnam decided to direct Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan once again in ‘Thug Life’ in 2023, after 36 years of the cult classic ‘Nayakan’. Touted to be an epic action saga with an ensemble star cast, the film went through many obstacles from the beginning.
The makers began shooting for ‘Thug Life’ in Chennai in January and moved to Serbia later. Then, the filming was haulted when Kamal Haasan went to take care of the election works for his party. Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi exited the project in the meantime due to date issues. Though there are reports which say that they are back in the film, their return is uncertain.
Now, the latest news is that Simbu has commenced shooting for ‘Thug Life’ as the production resumed in Jai Salmer, Rajasthan today. Earlier, he was said to be the replacement for DQ’s role. We have to wait for an official confirmation regarding this. It is reported that STR has provided 60 60-day call sheet for this film. His film, ‘STR 48’, will begin after that.
