Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Neethi Maiam party has filed a case in the high court seeking the cancellation of the order that allowed the Tamil Nadu government to reopen its wine shops run by TASMAC. In the petition, the court has been urged to compel the government to follow its directions strictly while pointing out that the people need immunity right now to fight the coronavirus and the liquor would only weaken its users and thereby affect others too by facilitating spread.
Kamal earlier today once more took to Twitter questioning whether Tamil Nadu can bear the bigger outbreak of COVID 19 due to tipsters turning carriers of the deadly virus and spreading it indiscriminately. He predicted that the death toll would be much higher than the 2004 Tsunami that claimed 8000 lives in the state.
