The re-release culture is recently booming in Indian cinema. Many legendary films in Tamil cinema were remastered and re-released as well. Superstar Rajinikanth remastered and re-released his 20-year-old film 'Baba' with an alternative ending on his birthday in December 2022.
Now, the hot news is that Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's cult classic, 'Aalavandhan', is all set for a grand re-release. Aalavandhan is a 2001 psychological thriller featuring Kamal Haasan in dual roles along with Raveena Tandon and Manisha Koirala. Directed by Suresh Krissna, the script is adapted from the novel 'Dhayam' and written by Kamal in 1984.
The film's producer Kalaippuli S Thanu announced that the remastered version of Aalavandhan will be re-released on 1000 screens across the globe. He unveiled a new poster today and captioned it, "Soon in the theaters. He is coming to rule your hearts! #Aalavandhan" (sic). The story is about the estranged twins (Vijay and Nandhu) and their troubles.
It is worth mentioning that Aalavandhan is a mega-budget film at the time of its original release. Many Bollywood and international technicians worked on the film to give an unparalleled experience. Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio composed the songs while Mahesh Mahadevan took care of the background score with visuals by Thiru and editing by Kasi Viswanathan.
