Noted playwright, actor, director and Jnanpith award winning writer Girish Karnad, also a Rhodes scholar, had passed away after prolonged illness. The 81 year old celebrated personality had passed away in his residence in Bangalore and condolences are pouring in for the actor.
Girish Karnad has been a part of several notable flicks like Kadhalan, Ratchagan, Chellame etc where he had played the villain, and also in movies like Minsara Kanavu and 24, which was his last movie in Tamil as an actor.
Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan, who had cast him in his classic movies like Gunaa and Hey Ram has tweeted his condolence message. Kamal Haasan had tweeted "Mr.Girish Karnad, His scripts both awe and inspire me. He has left behind many inspired fans who are writers. Their works perhaps will make his loss partly bearable." Girish Karnad has won numerous national awards and had been actively fighting for several causes in his last phase of his life.
