Earlier in the day, Picture Box Co had said that the Telugu theatrical release rights of Vijay Antony's 'Kaasi' are with them. It turns out that the agreement has been terminated.

"This is to inform you that the movie rights agreement entered between Vijay Antony film Corporation Private Limited and Picture Box company with regard to our movie has been terminated since M/s Pictures Box company failed to make the payment as per the terms and conditions of the said agreement and also failed to honour  the cheque issued by them in our favour.

It is also necessary to take note of the fact that the Division Bench of Honourable Madras High Court has suspended the order obtained by Picture Box company with regards to the release of the movie," Vijay Antony's office said in a statement.

"We are the rights holder of the said movie and nobody else can deal with the movie except Vijay Antony film Corporation Private Limited," it added.
