Justin Timberlake unveiled his latest single at a complimentary hometown concert on Friday night. The 42-year-old singer, known for his collaboration with Nelly Furtado and Timbaland in his previous single, generously treated fans to a preview of his new track, "Selfish," at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis, TN.
Taking the stage in a stylish dark blue double-breasted suit and navy blue T-shirt, Timberlake charmed the audience. His closely cropped dark blonde hair and beard complemented his dapper look. The Grammy winner donned dark sneakers and adorned a double strand of white beads around his neck. Despite freezing temperatures, devoted fans captured the performance on their cell phones, sharing videos on social media.
The lyrics of "Selfish" delve into themes of jealousy within a relationship, with Timberlake crooning, "If I get jealous, I can't help it / I want every bit of you, I guess I'm selfish." This marks his first solo music since 2018's "Man of the Woods."
In addition to the concert, Timberlake unveiled the trailer for his upcoming album, "Everything I Thought I Was," drawing inspiration from Wes Anderson's "Asteroid City." The teaser showcases a toy car driving into a desert gas station, narrated by Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro. The mysterious trailer concludes with the reveal: "Justin Timberlake Presents: Everything I Thought It Was."
Fans can anticipate another live rendition of "Selfish" when Timberlake graces the stage as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on January 27, with Dakota Johnson hosting. This latest musical venture promises to be a significant addition to Timberlake's impressive solo repertoire.
