Heard of the 'Sex For Marks' scandal in Tamil Nadu? It's the scam where a woman assistant professor was accused of luring girl students into sex by promising them marks and money. Offer sex to whom? Officials related to the education department and others.
A journalist named Nakeeran Gopal has written articles on the scam. The journo has asserted that the accused lady professor had met Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit four times. And, on Tuesday morning, he was arrested at Chennai airport.
Coming back to the scam, it all started when Nirmala Devi (the assistant professor) was arrested in April after an audio clip of her alleged conversation with girl students found its way into the Internet. She was heard asking the girl students to give sexual favours to officials in return for higher marks in the exams and also money.
Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu have been demanding the resignation of the Governor.
