In a latest verdict going against the healthcare giant, Johnson & Johnson has been ordered by a Californian Superior court in Oakland to pay a compensation of $ 29 million to a woman who had filed a suit that the asbestos content in the company's talcum powder had caused cancer to her.
Johnson & Johnson has been facing more than 13000 lawsuits pertaining to their talcum powder range, and with regards to this case, the group has said that there are errors in the case, that was filed by Terry Leavitt who had used Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder and Shower to Shower which caused her mesothelioma.
In the verdict to the case, it was pronounced that Johnson & Johnson had failed to keep up the promise it made to the customers, failing to warn them of the content in their products and the health risks associated and slapped a massive $29.4 million as damages to be paid to Leavitt and her husband, and following this, Johnson & Johnson has said that they will appeal against the verdict.
