Johnny Depp's Oops Moment: Robert Downey Jr. Oscar Congrats Gone Wrong!

Johnny Depp honors Robert Downey Jr’s Oscar victory for ‘’Oppenheimer’’ but does this with his extremely sloppy social media post selection.

In a congratulatory gesture, Depp also shared a throwback picture featuring both him and Downey in a photoshopped version of a photo in which Downey was with his then-girlfriend, Sarah Jessica Parker, with Depp digitally added into it.

Realizing the error, Depp put down the ironic message and instead posted a real up-to-date picture, in which the two actors appeared standing next to each other and wished them congratulations.

An original photo, which saw Downey and Parker together, was taken at an event of Young Artists Unite in Los Angeles, way back when their seven-year relationship was from 1984-1991. Depp and Downey do actually have a real friendship, one aptly described in many real photos of the duo over the years. Downey first had Depp come in support over wife Amber versus in 2021.

Downey's Oscar was really long-coming for Best Supporting Actor, as he was nominated for his past roles in "Chaplin" and "Tropic Thunder." The comedian was again back at the ceremony to attend the handover of the statuette toward Depp, who was left with his three nominations and still no Oscar for such indelible characters as "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," "Finding Neverland," and "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
