Jasprit Bumrah, who is arguably the best pace bowler currently, has had his fair share of struggles growing up. The celebrated fast bowler revealed in a recent video shared by Mumbai Indians that there was a point in his life when he could only afford one pair of shoes and T-shirt. The tough period started after his father's death when Bumrah was a five-year-old kid, apparently.
In the video, Bumrah and his mother Daljit Bumrah recall the traumatic days. After Daljit started off by saying that Bumrah lost his father when he was only five, Bumrah said, "After that we couldn't afford anything. I had one pair of shoes. I used to have one pair of T-shirt. I used to wash them every day and use it again and again. So, as a child you know you hear stories that sometimes these things happen that some people come and watch you and you get picked up like this. But it actually happened. All these tough times make you strong because you've seen tougher days before."
Daljit further adds that she couldn't stop crying the first time she saw Bumrah on TV for his IPL match in 2013. It took him less than six years to be ranked as the number one ODI bowler in the world.
From bowling yorkers on practice pitches in Gujarat to being the no. 1 bowler in ODIs, Jasprit Bumrah's journey makes us proud. His story is a reminder that talent is everywhere and it just needs to be nurtured and given a stage to shine.#LeadersInSport#LeadersWeek#NitaAmbani pic.twitter.com/VVvwP4DYfd
