In a candid address to the media following the YSR Congress Party's (YSRCP) unexpected defeat in the 2024 And hra Pradesh elections, party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reflected on the outcome. The results, which caught the party off guard, prompted Jagan to highlight the extensive welfare measures and reforms his government had implemented.
Addressing the public, Jagan emphasized the transformative impact of his government 's initiatives, which benefited over 53 lakh women, 26 lakh elderly and disabled individuals, and extended support to farmers, auto drivers, and fishermen. He underscored the significant changes in education and the commitment to alleviating the hardships of the poor, likening the party's manifesto to sacred texts in terms of its guiding principles.
Expressing surprise at the voting outcome, Jagan questioned the disconnect between the government's efforts and the election results, wondering about the unforeseen shift in public sentiment. Despite the setback, he maintained a respectful stance toward the democratic process, acknowledging the verdict of the people and extending congratulations to rivals Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan.
Jagan Mohan Reddy concluded his address with a message of resilience, urging his party to take a bold step forward and learn from this experience. His speech reflected a mix of disappointment, determination, and respect for the democratic will, unders coring the importance of moving ahead with lessons learned from the surprising electoral results.
However, in a subsequent press conference, Jagan's tone shifted. Instead of graciously accepting his loss, he alleged a conspiracy behind his defeat, despite admitting that there was no evidence to support his claims. He stated that only God knows the truth. Notably, Jagan used to refer to Pawan Kalyan as "Datta Putrudu" but addressed him as "Pawan Kalyan garu" for the first time, offering his congratulations to Chandrababu Naidu garu, Pawan Kalyan garu, and the BJP for their significant victory.
Jagan also stated that being in the opposition is not new for him, having spent most of his political career in opposition, except for the past five years. He claimed to have fought hard and gone through more hardships than anyone else, adding that he is prepared to face any further challenges that might come his way. This statement hinted at his fear of potential legal troubles, particularly in the illegal assets case and the murder case of YS Vivekananda Reddy.
