A MiG-21 Bison fighter jet of the Indian Air Force crashed in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district on Friday after reportedly suffering a bird hit.
The MiG-21 aircraft, that was on a routine mission, took off from the Indian Air Force’s Nal airbase in Rajasthan near Bikaner before crashing in Shobhasar ki Dhani, located 12 km from Bikaner city. Reports suggest that the pilot ejected safely before the crash and that a bird hit following the take-off caused the accident.
Wing Commander Abhinandan, who was recently captured by the Pakistani Army and returned to India on PM Imran Khan’s orders, was flying a MiG-21 while he took down Pakistan’s F-16, but lost his jet in the process as well.
