India: 98 lakh people have recovered from coronavirus

The government on Tuesday said that, as of Tuesday, more than 98 lakh people have recovered from coronavirus across India. The recovery rate now stands at 95.92%, which is almost 96%. The precise number is 98,07,569.
Also, for the first time since June 25, less than 16,500 cases were registered on Monday in a 24-hour period. This is the lowest 24-hour tally in 187 days.
Cumulative figures in a nutshell:
Confirmed Cases: 1,02,24,303
Recovered Cases: 98,07,569
Active Cases: 2,68,581
Deaths: 1,48,153 (which is 1.45%)
As many as 16,98,01,749 samples were tested in India as of December 28.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research will conduct its third serosurvey across 70 districts in the country. As many as 29,000 individuals will be tested for antibodies from December 31. National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE), Chennai, is going to execute it. The survey, among others, will assess the infection spread among the health staff.
